» Paul Pinson Biography

Paul is an executive coach, trainer, group facilitator and creative leader. As well as owning and active coaching practice he also runs Boilerhouse - an international theatre company.

He is an expert in communications, interpersonal relationships and personal impact. He is also highly experienced in the use of theatre and drama to create sustainable and inspirational learning. This background and experience offer a fresh and uniquely different perspective enabling him to challenge and inspire in equal measure.

Clients include Standard Life, Tie (Transport Initiatives Edinburgh), The Scottish Arts Council, Martin Currie (the investment bank), The City of Edinburgh Council, Dancebase (The National Centre for Dance), Napier University, Queen Margaret University, The Federation of Scottish Theatre, The State Hospitals Board Scotland (NHS), and Contagious (international design agency).

Paul designs and delivers development programmes and events for companies He coaches individuals who either lead their own businesses or are senior managers within larger organisations. In addition, he trains senior managers and leaders as coaches and mentors via qualifications from Strathclyde University and The Institute of Leadership and Management.

One of Paul’s most recent projects was the creation and delivery of “Step Up” – the National Mentoring Programme for the theatre and dance sector in Scotland.

Paul is a graduate of the Postgraduate course in Executive Coaching at Strathclyde University. He is also a Member of The Association for Coaching and The European Mentoring and Coaching Council - the foremost industry bodies promoting ethics and competencies within the coaching and mentoring profession.
Over the last 18 years his theatre company Boilerhouse has established itself as one of the most pioneering and respected companies in Scotland with a repertoire of work created both in the UK and internationally. As Founder and Artistic Director Paul has produced, written and directed some of the most unique productions in recent Scottish theatre history. These have taken place in a range of extraordinary locations both local and international ranging from a Pacific oceanfront to the Formula 1 circuit in Monaco, and include the largest ever single audience for a Scottish theatre company.
During this time Paul was a guest lecturer at The Royal Scottish Academy for Music and Drama and Queen Margaret University. He also served as a specialist advisor for The Scottish Arts Council, sat on the working party for The National Theatre of Scotland, and was a Board Member for the UK industry lead body The Independent Theatre Council.
His most recent artistic project was the creation of the largest single-day new artistic work event in the UK – “Feet First” – with over 175 artists contributing to an evening of outdoor entertainment on the 1st January 2009 for 15,000 people in The Old Town – Edinburgh’s World Heritage Site.
As a coach, mentor and facilitator Paul works alongside people and organisations on their journeys; creating contexts for them to flourish, to discover insights into their own performance and to move forwards with greater clarity and purpose.

Both strands of his career are underpinned by a belief in human potential and the need to place ourselves in those situations where great growth, discoveries and learning can take place and thus enhance performance.
